How to Use a Layered Template for Hybrid Scrapbooking
Making a Hybrid Card
Tutorial by Amy Duquette, Creative Team Member
Making hybrid cards are an easy and fun alternative to a traditional card.
1. I used a card template from Carrie Stephens for my card. Templates are a quick shortcut when you are in a rush to get that perfect card created.
2. Open up your digital paper that you want to use for your card. Copy it and paste it above the layer that contains the part of the card that you want to "fill" with that paper. CTRL+G to group the 2 layers and you will see your digital paper has now filled a part of the card template. Do this step for each section of the template that needs to be filled.
3. Next step is to print out the card front you just created. You can adjust the size to suit your needs but I just left it the same as the original template. I printed it out on heavy matte HP photo paper and trimmed it to size.
4. Once your card front is printed you can begin adding texture and dimension. I added 3 brads and chipboard alphas. Cut a piece of coordinating cardstock and fold it to make your card. Place your card front you just printed on the front and glue it in place. You can use glue dots or just regular adhesive to do this.
5. Voila you are finished. There are so many possibilities for making a hybrid card, your creativity can really shine through. You can use ribbon, cardstock stickers, vellum, eyelets and many other embellishments to give your card that extra pop. Give it a try and come back here and comment with a link to your Hybrid card!
